BASELINE CRITERIA MET: 9/28/13
COMMENTS: Due to a medical emergency, no testing was done on Day 3 of the sample. To clarify: this is the second day of testing (Day 2), so the sample is 4 days old as we begin the second day of testing. I plan to exercise the option of repeating Intro VIIB. Because of the "lost day" of the relatively new and novel scent for the testing dog, I am also going to precede the Intro session with a Ritual (see below).
Ritual: 1 set of trainer's choice; may be performed once per session
*R (Ritual)
*1 After watching Thursday's testing, Frank emailed and asked about "residual odor". The single False Positive in this set might suggest that residual odor was at play here. It is my intention to place the target odor in each of the containers on the wheel during this session, two different containers each set.
*2 Mid way through this set the painters began scraping the stucco right outside the windows. It didn't appear to have an effect on Lily and so I continued the set. It is my observation that Lily caused the wheel to spin when indicating and when sniffing, so she continued working (stamina) and that she found the target container and then her nose spun it away from her so she continued looking to find it again. I marked this Ease of Find as a 3 but considered this to be one of Lily's BEST sets ever!
*3 This set was done approx 30m after Lily had returned home from a play date at the Marina with Sheila and her 4 dogs. I did not accompany them. Frankly, Lily had not had enough time to "decompress" from her adventure before beginning this set. She completed it with a 100% success rate. She relied upon her "trained testing stamina", though. I could tell by observing her during the set and I can definitely see it watching the video. Using training jargon, yes, she was in the game but she wasn't In the Game. Here her training carried her through.
Lily is tired from yesterday, where she didn't have a lot of physical exercise, but her routine was totally different than normal. I will wait until tomorrow to begin testing Test VII C.
